Mercoledì su “CBS Mornings”, il senatore Rand Paul (R-KY) ha affermato che “c’è una perdita di fiducia pubblica” nell’Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), quindi sono necessarie alcune riforme.
Paul ha detto: “Penso che la nazione e il paese in generale, o gran parte del paese, abbiano perso la fiducia. Sapete, penso che ci sia una perdita di fiducia pubblica nell’ICE e nei suoi funzionari dopo aver visto cosa sta succedendo a Minneapolis. Penso che ci sia colpa da entrambe le parti. E avremo un gruppo di persone dal Minnesota, e chiederemo loro, state collaborando? State cercando di consegnare le persone violente, che sono in prigione, o le state consegnando. over? We’re also going to ask the ice heads and those at DHS. We’re going to ask them what is the proper use of force? You know, is this the proper use of force? When should the agents be drawing their guns? When should they be firing their guns? And if these heads of these agencies refuse to answer these questions, it’s going to be a real problem. Because when a mistake like this happens, when a mistake of this magnitude happens, the first thing should be an apology, and it should be regret. It dovrebbe essere tristezza, e dovrebbe essere che faremo meglio. E questa è la politica e ci assicureremo che venga applicata.
Ha aggiunto: “Sono favorevole ad alcune delle riforme di cui si parla. Dobbiamo arrivare ai dettagli. Ma penso che alcune riforme siano necessarie”.
